Dale was a studio musician. He was in Boys' Choir during his freshman
year, & Concert Choir during his sophomore, junior, & senior years. The
Concert Choir provided innumerable concerts & tours in 1966-67. They
gave their 1st concert entitled "A Musical Night To Remember" which was
followed by a Christmas Concert, & their part in the musical play, "The
Mikado," & a concert trip to the Grand Canyon. Dale last resided in

was 49 yrs. old. He was a member of the MHS football team. He also
attended St. Vincent De Paul. He was a husband to Lisa.

NICHOLAS "Nick" ANTHONY Di MURIA
Born: 03-20-1952, in Oceanside, New York
Died: 08-01-2005, at age 53, in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona.
As a sophomore, junior and senior (1967-68-69), Nick was a member of
Parnassus, the Latin club, and the Biology/Physics club. Both Physics
and Latin clubs were very active, and MHS hosted the Latin Institute and
the State Saturnalia. They were also in charge of the contests at the
state convention held at ASU, and assisted the state chairman in
preparation for the national that was held the summer of 1968 at UofA.
In 1967-68, Nick's junior year, he was a member of Student Body
Executive Committee. Student council was abolished and replaced with
Student Senators in Student Government; Nick was a member in both
1967-68 and 1968-69. In both of those years, he was also a member of the
National Forensic League (NFL); and the debate team participated in the
Southwestern Debate contest at ASU. Nick's senior year, 1969, he was an
active member of Thespians (two plays & musicals were presented: "Li'l
Abner" and "Ten Little Indians") and debate (participating again in the
NFL, and participated in the state and southwestern championship
tournaments in Tucson and Tempe). He graduated in the top 2% of his
class, stating that he planned to major in speech in college and go on
into a career in law. He was a model United Nations delegate and ranked
in the top 10% in state math contest. Nick is survived by his mother
Yolanda Di Muria; his two brothers, Michael Anthony Di Muria, MHS; 1968
and Steve Di Muria. His sister is Barbara Di Muria, MHS; 1973. Services
were private. Arrangements by Best Funeral Services Chapel, 9380 West
Peoria Avenue Peoria, Arizona. Nick's family suggests a donation be made
to the Arizona Heart Institute
and/or
Arizona Heart Foundation. Published in The Arizona Republic on

Karen Marie Shatto, was a loving Mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
She was employed by Bank One. Preceded in death by her Mother Ann Marie
Sullivan (dob: 04/30/1930, in Detroit, Michigan - dod: 04/06/2006, in
Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, at 75 years of age, published in the
Arizona Republic, Section B9, on 04/11/2006), and her Father Paul E.
Hollowell (dob: 04/14/1929 - dod: 03/05/1992, at 62 years of age, last
resided in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona 85016, published in the
Arizona Republic, Section B9, on 03/08/1992). Karen's maternal
grandparents are: Cecilia and Jesse "Dick" Litchfield Deever
(grandfather dob: 01/26/1902 - dod: 02/1967, last resided in Tucson,
Pima County, Arizona 85719). Karen is survived by her daughters Michelle
Gittlein, Keri Hamill, granddaughters Alyssa Marie Hamill, and Nichole
Gittlein, ex-husband and friend, Norm Shatto, brothers Mark Hollowell
and Dan Hollowell, sister-in-law Tammie Hollowell, nephews Travis
Hollowell and Tyler Hollowell, niece Alyssa Marie Hollowell, sons-in-law
Dave Gittlein and Stan Hamill, and stepmother, Betty M. Hollowell.
"Mom/Karen, you will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts." A
memorial was held Saturday, 06/23/2007 at St. John the Baptist Episcopal
Church, 4102 West Union Hills Drive, Phoenix, Arizona. Reception

"Willie" JOSEPH RAY
Born: 09-08-1949, at Williams Field AFB, Mesa, Arizona.
Died: 08-12-1973, in an auto accident at State Hwy.87, milepost 217.9,
Arizona.
Willie served in the US Army in Vietnam.
As a result of a one-car crash on State Route 87 some 217 miles
northeast of Phoenix, Arizona, William (Willie, affectionately known as
'the giraffe' by his friends) was killed and another man (Willie's
friend) who was the driver was injured. The two were returning home
after failing to make connections with friends they were joining for a
camping trip. The accident occurred about 9:50 P.M. Saturday 08/11/1973.
Mr. Ray graduated from Maryvale High School and was an Army veteran. He
had worked for 2 years at ICX Motor Freight Company and was a member of
Teamsters Union Local 8845. Willie's loving twin sister is Alice "Marie"
Ray, MHS; 1969.

PETER "Pete"
DAVID SCHWIEBERT
Born: 05-02-1951, in Toledo, Ohio.
Died: 12-17-2004, at age 53, of Glendale, Arizona.
Peter moved to Arizona in 1958. Pete was on the MHS track team during his
sophomore, junior and senior years. He was a member of the Lettermen's Club
during his junior and senior years. A lifelong student, he earned Bachelors
and Masters Degrees from Arizona State University (ASU) and a Masters
Degrees from University of Arizona (U of A). He began his nearly 30-year
career at Greenway High School in Phoenix in 1977. As a teacher, and later
as a guidance counselor, Peter brought thoughtful advice and playful, gentle
humor to his classroom, always striving to instill a strong sense of
confidence and self-worth in every student. As the advisor for Greenway's
vocational business club, DECA, he built a program of superior quality that
served as a model for DECA programs nationwide. Peter was a loving and
tender husband, who unfailingly gave his support and kindness in times of
both great joy and great struggle. He was a devoted father, donating his
time and talents to coaching soccer and baseball teams, building a local
community theater, and providing unconditional love and guidance to his
children and grandchildren, to whom he will forever be remembered lovingly
as "Bumpa." Peter touched countless lives with his years of dedication to
his students, community, and family and he will be terribly missed by all
who knew him. Peter is survived by his wife, Janet; Father, Walter
Schwiebert of Sun City and his wife Peggy; brother John Schwiebert (Carl
Hayden H.S; 1962) of Stanton, California and his wife Laurie; brother Thomas
"Tom" W. Schwiebert (MHS; 1966) of Osceola, Wisconsin and his wife Lynn (Falkenbury)
Schwiebert (MHS; 1967); son Ehren of Los Angeles and his wife Caroline; son
Andy of Berkeley, California; son Chris Fusselman of Phoenix and his wife
Jennifer; daughter Michelle Donahue of Peoria and her husband Danny; and
grandchildren Luke, Kaylee, Mayah, Cody, and Alexis. Pete is preceded in
death by his Mother Jeanne Schwiebert (dob:1924-dod:1977, interment at
Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, Arizona). Visitation was Tuesday,
12/21/2004 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix, Arizona. A
memorial service was held Wednesday, 12/22/2004, Shadow Rock Congregational
Church, 12861 N. 8th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. Contributions may be made to:

-Regular, 1st AVN BDE. Woody was 21 yrs. old & single. His tour of duty
began on 03-31- 1972. His casualty was on 10-31-1972 in Ding Tuong,
South Vietnam. Woody was a hostile, helicopter - noncrew, air loss,
crash on land. His body was recovered. He is respectfully honored on the
Vietnam Wall National
Monument in Washington, D.C., his place on the Wall is Panel 01W - Line
89. He is also remembered on the
Arizona
Vietnam Wall. Interment on: 11-11-1972
Cemetery: Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 719 N. 27th Avenue or 2300 W.
Van Buren, I-10 interstate freeway and I-17 freeway and 27th Avenue,
