Maryvale has always been a unique place in the Valley of the Sun. Many of us raised in Maryvale in the 1960 –1980 era feel a special bond. In 1999, a group of alumni joined together to share our life experiences in a series of “Big Adventure” reunions at the high school. Out of that a spirit of community a desire to work together to help the school and students developed. We have funded over 15 scholarships so far.

Since then the Maryvale Alumni Association has grown to support the work of a handful of dedicated volunteers keeping that community alive via newsletters, a website and an incredible memorial site. If you haven’t seen www.maryvalepanthers.com you must visit it soon. It will make you laugh and cry with so many memories packed into a beautiful site.

The Maryvale Alumni Association is asking for your support. Our goals are to maintain and grow a website of memories and memorials, help reunions reach alumni via a constantly updated database, print a quarterly newsletter to Alumni members, support scholarships, mentoring, and alumni social gatherings.

Seeing old friends, lost for so many years, is wonderful and hearing about their life since we last met is so great. And then there are those we have lost. You read those memorials and see such incredible lives, these people we shared classes and clubs, dated or maybe never knew. There are heroes among our ranks. Part of what we hope to accomplish is to share these stories and give each of them recognition. Veteran’s Day the Alumni Association will be placing flowers on the graves of our fallen warriors. And Maryvale has had more than her fair share.
